The environmental graphics program for the revitalized Delacorte Theater extends a decades-long relationship between Paula Scher, Pentagram, and The Public Theater.
Working in collaboration with Ennead Architects, whose renovation transformed the iconic open-air venue through significant accessibility, infrastructure, and public-space improvements, the project developed a comprehensive signage and donor recognition system for the theater and its surrounding grounds. The graphics respond to the renewed architecture while reinforcing the bold visual identity that has become synonymous with The Public, helping guide visitors through one of New York City’s most beloved cultural institutions and the home of Free Shakespeare in the Park.

Series of large-scale dimensional letters are integrated into the new entrance canopy. Designed as removable architectural signage, the letters help establish a strong identity for the theater while complementing Ennead’s renovation.
